Textil Villa de Pego Silobags are weighted textile bags (ballast bags, counterweight bags) designed specifically to anchor and fix Silonet covers over bunker silos, silage clamps and forage piles, preventing the wind from displacing the protective cover. They are filled with sand, gravel or any other locally available ballast material and placed along the edges of the net at regular intervals.
Silobags replace used tyres, which cause soil contamination from leachate, rainwater accumulation (a mosquito vector) and progressive non-compliance with waste-management regulations on livestock farms. Industry estimates suggest that more than 60% of European livestock farms still use tyres as ballast — a practice that environmental regulation is increasingly restricting.
